Mary was born in Somerset, England and came to Canada with her parents at the age of two. After many years in Kleinburg, she now lives and works on her dream farm in Caledon, Ontario, where the surrounding countryside continues to inspire her.

A Lifelong Passion for Art
Mary’s love of art began at an early age. Her family spent summer vacations exploring the landscape and history of their new home.
Raising her own family in Kleinburg, Mary spent countless hours at the McMichael Gallery with her children, developing an appreciation for Canadian Art.
Artist and Educator for Over 40 Years
Since the 1980’s Mary has worked primarily in acrylics creating original artwork while teaching hundreds of students through classes, workshops and community programs.
She has taught for organizations including:

- Dufferin County Museum
- Rufus Porter Museum, Maine
- Southampton School for the Arts
The Inspiration Behind My Memory Paintings
While Mary enjoys many artistic styles, her greatest passion is Primitive or Naive art. Inspired by the work of Grandma Moses, she creates paintings that celebrate everyday life, community, and cherished memories. Through each piece she hopes to capture the warmth, simplicity and sense of connection that inspired it. Grandma called them Memory Paintings, How perfect.

Influenced by the rich tradition of Folk Artists such as Rufus Porter, Grandma Moses and Maud Lewis, Mary believes that meaningful stories can be told through simple, heartfelt imagery. Every painting is an opportunity to preserve a memory, celebrate tradition and share a moment worth remembering.
